Save the complaints for after the entrée. I’m well aware I am a bit late to the party, but boy am I ever so glad I’ve wandered across Wikipedia. It’s an exceptionally thorough source of information for all sorts of goodies. I have always considered myself a fan of random useless (& odd) facts — this site fills a void in my life :)

The word tycoon is derived from the Japanese word taikun (大君, taikun^?), which means “great lord” or “shogun“. The word entered the English Language in the 19th Century with the return of Commodore Perry to the United States. U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was humorously referred to as “the Tycoon” by his aides John Nicolay and John Hay. The term spread to the business community, where it has been used ever since.

I was wandering around town last night & came across a band playing in Dundas Square. They were playing some flamenco, pawning off cds!

The band’s name is ‘Gipsy’, they play some excellent tunes.

They don’t have a site or anything, but if you use last.fm you should be able to give it a listen or at least “add” it to your list to listen to later.

I ended up picking up a CD, I swindled them out of a copy for half price — I don’t carry much cash on me when rollerblading around just in case I get mugged.

Now.. where’d I put that hammock & coconut tree, give it a listen — this stuff is great :)
